Crater and mines 7,1 km

On 7 June 1917, in the middle of the First World War, nineteen mines were exploded under the German positions near Wijtschate. The explosions left craters that are distinguished by their round shape even though they are now filled with water. This walk takes you to a German brick-built mine shaft in the Kampagnebos, the craters near Petit Bois, the Peckham crater and the Pool of Peace (Spanbroekmolen crater). The trail also offers stunning views of the surrounding area!

Start: Village Information Centre, church, Wijtschate
