‘Lockedyze’ refers to an old custom which predates the use of dummies for babies.
A piece of cloth, stuffed with bread and sugar, was pressed into crying young mouths, in the hope of making them silent.
Sweet-tooths and others can still find plenty to satisfy them in Cafe ‘De Lockedyze’: tasty snacks, local beers, a light and airy interior and a garden terrace. And for those with sporting inclinations, you can play a fun game of shuffleboard.
