Bowling at the owl - 't Hellegat

Each player rolls a number of balls at a series of 'gates' set into a wooden 'wall'. If a ball goes through the middle gate, the player scores no points. A ball going through one of the other gates is worth one point. Originally known in Flemish as 'bowling at the nil', it later became known popularly as 'bowling at the owl', because of the similarity between the words for 'nil' and 'owl' in the Dutch language.
